From The Bride…Even before we got engaged, we both always dreamed of having a whimsical, vintage-inspired wedding. We wanted to create an atmosphere that was festive, not fussy, and the Wythe was the ideal venue. We chose Poppies and Posies for all florals because of their rustic, straight-from-the-garden aesthetic; we opted for a family-style menu to encourage friends and family to mingle and connect with others at their table. We had a pushcart stocked with mini ice cream sandwiches and paper cones with mini doughnut holes so guests could walk and eat and dance all at once. My favorite part of the day? Walking up behind Mike, the New York City skyline as our backdrop, and tapping him on the shoulder. It was our first look. And when he finally saw me for the first time, I thought he was about to plotz. It was the single most blissful moment of my life.

From Abby Jiu PhotographyAfter Lauren attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and cooking in restaurants, she quickly learned that food was one of her biggest passions. She even wrote her own menu to include her love of classic French food with newer food concepts. Table side choice, local cheeses and seasonal/local produce included in a 4 course plated meal for all. The meal was finished with an organic cake made from local ingredients, a circulating candy cart, Ben’s favorite childhood sweets (root beer floats and ice cream sandwiches) served on the dance floor, and hot cookies, apple cider, and hot chocolate as guests departed. No one was to leave hungry!

Aside from food Lauren found herself very inspired by tiny white flowers. After seeing a picture of tiny white arabicum for floral inspiration, and finding her dress with a bodice full of tiny white flowers, she was hooked! The arabicum flowers made there way into my invitation, all of the printed materials, welcome bag, floral decor, and even into the paper flower decor. Everything that was not based on her love of food, was based on the shape of the arabicum flower.

From The Bride…My now husband (!) and I have been together for 10+ years. We really wanted to showcase our love for our family and friends. Being an event planner, everyone was expecting something GREAT! So, naturally the pressure was on. Our number one goal was for everyone to have the most amazing time. So many things contributed to this….the location, the music, the food and of course the drinks! We had gone up to BR Cohn many years ago and fell in love with their wine and Oyster Bar on Sundays. We remember thinking so many years ago what a great place it would be to get married. To be fortunate enough to have that dream come true was the best. Next, we LOVE food. It was super important to us for people to love the food and to keep it coming. Lastly, we don’t get the opportunity to let loose and dance too often. Music was key and having a full dance floor from beginning to end is what we hoped for and came true!

I am a lover of all things vintage! The wedding was designed around a French-Vintage feeling. I had so many ideas for what I wanted, almost too many! In the end it was exactly what I wanted with the perfect touch of elegance.

I have been going to the Alameda Antique Fair for years and have been collecting antiques for quite some time. My husband always jokes with me and says how I love anything antique/vintage. Over a year plus span, I collected vintage mirror trays that I used for the centerpiece.

Another significant piece were the skeleton keys on each mirror tray that had a wooden tag with a significant word hand written on each. Each word (cherish, love, family, adventure) represents our past, present and future. They were words that describe us as a couple.

The day honestly could not have been better! Thank you to Amy, who is both my good friend and coordinator, everything went off without a hitch. Everything I had imagined came to life and could not have been more beautiful. During the reception, my husband told me to stop and take a look around. There was nothing more amazing then seeing all your closest family and friends together in one space and enjoying themselves. We never felt so much love from everyone as we did that day and particularly at that moment.

We had a last dance planned for everyone, “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” a nod to our favorite team, San Francisco Giants and the DJ had everyone make a circle around us as we danced just the two of us. This wasn’t planned, but it was the absolute best way to end the day, surrounded by all of our loved ones.
